A late contender for the top ten of 2009, The Chasm unleash a ripping torrent of occult-laden death metal, stuffed to the gills in celestial atmospherics and other-worldly mysticism's. Obviously believers in both quality AND quantity, The Chasm summon over an hour's worth of epic death metal on Farseeing the Paranormal Abysm. Much like The Spell of Retribution, it's a lot to take in all at once, but the well-considered instrumental tracks lend a lot to the pacing of this album, and it's simply phenomenal. The musicianship and songwriting are impeccable, the tones are searingly heavy, and the tight orchestration and execution of every little detail makes this impossible to disregard.
Simply put: this is the truest metal you might ever hear.
