This compilation rulz all! Duplicate strikes again with the second in the Uberthrash compilation series. I don't know how they have managed to get such a great combination of the best of Norway's thrash Superstars together for this and the corresponding concert. Since it has four tracks by four bands I will break this review down by individual songs:

First up is Nocturnal Breed. It is a solid but overall non-descript song. It doesn't kill me but it is a nice bit of scorching black thrash that has a nice driving main riff. Man, I wish they would come out with a new
album.

Next up is one of my faves from Norway's Neo-thrash scene in the form of the always brilliant Audiopain. Their track Psalvation kills. This track is a prime example of how they are both thrash and something a little different at the same time. That pounding riff around the 2 minute mark in that track makes me scrunch up my face and bang my head every time. Sverre has to be the dirtiest vocalist in the Norwegian scene.

After that we have another track from the mighty Aura Noir. Sulphur Void follows pretty much in the style that was unleashed upon us on their Merciless album. I absolutely worship these guys and it is because of quality songmanship like this. The track is not too overdeveloped and keeps a sense of urgency that pummels you like a thousand midgets drunk on their hatred for tall people. heh heh.

And finally we are treated to some thrash mayhem from Inferno. I thought the vocals from their Thrash metal Dogs from Hell 7" were out of control but they don't even hold a candle to the vocals here on Metal Commando. They are so over-the-top I can't even begin to describe them. But the song is so energized and inspiring you can't help but mosh in your seat.

It is really great to see that Norway's finest are back together on vinyl again. After the huge success of last years Überthrash festival and the Überthrash double 7"ep (which is a collectors item already) there is now a new Überthrash double ep, yet again in a gatefold cover and yet again covering Nocturnal Breed, Audiopain, Aura Noir and Infernö, all with exclusive tracks for this release only. And already now it is certain that this hellish piece of vinyl will become a collectors item as well. Because of last years success the label now decided to release it in 1000 copies instead of 500 like it was done last year. To celebrate this new release there was this celebration gig at the John Dee in Oslo three weeks ago including all featured bands except for Aura Noir (which were playing 2 days later at the Inferno festival). But now about the bands: Nocturnal Breed is the first band and they're doing "Scything harrow (Mother whore edition). I think I don't need to explain who Nocturnal Breed is and what they're doing as it should be known by now (they're releasing music since 1996 already so....). Anyway, this short track is like we are used to from Nocturnal Breed again one big fat motherfucker...ready to tear us apart. I even think this song is somewhat representative for the complete discography from these alcoholic thrashers.
All the best ingredients from the last ten years are featured in this song. It is cool to hear some 'scream along' parts again which always works out great during live gigs. Sex, beer and rock'n'roll this is baby!!!!

On the other side we find Audiopain with a new song called "Psalvation". Audiopain can be seen as thé most known unsigned band out of Norway and their fanbase is growing day by day. Last year Audiopain released their "The traumatizer" self-financed cd which was a bit more difficult to get into in comparison to their previous release "Revel in desecration" but with this "Psalvation" the music is more accessable again. Again the eighties thrash influences are dominating the sound and it actually brings forth nostalgic feelings. For me personally "Psalvation" is one of thé best Audiopain songs up to date. Great old school thrash!!!

The first band on the second disc is one of my alltime favourite bands: Aura Noir! What should I say? Aura Noir still is thé ugliest band in the world releasing thé dirtiest music ever to be unleashed upon mankind. And their newest track "Sulphur void" is not any different then what they've done before. You still can expect the blackest black-thrash metal ever to be recorded. Halfway the song there is a chaotic eighties Slayer alike guitarsolo which sounds really great. Also worth mentioning are Apollyon's
vocals which are thé ugliest vocals around. This is just great....no more words needed!!!

At last there is Infernö with "Metal commando". This song is from the same studio session as the "Thrash metal dogs of hell" 7"ep and therefore sounds quite similar in sound. Though "Metal commando" is even more chaotic, especially the vocals from Hazardous Pussy Desecrator are over the top insane. Aaaaaaaaaeeeergggghhhh, I'm going insane myself when listening this song. Halfway the song I've lost all control over my body and I run as fast as I can to the refrigerator to grab as many beercans as I can hold and start drinking them as fast as I can. Aaaaaeeeerrrggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! Insanity rules!!!!!!!! Hail Infernö!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As said in the beginning of this review already; this double 7"ep comes in a gatefold cover with on the inside a photo collage from all kind of pictures from last years Überthrash party with both on and off stage pictures and the result looks really great. All in all this Überthrash II double ep is a mandatory buy for all thrash fanatics worldwide. But be quick as there are only 1000 copies printed and the demand for this hellish vinyl is huge.

Il secondo capitolo della saga "Überthrash" ha finalmente visto la luce! Un anno dopo, le solite quattro band! D'altro canto, squadra che vince non si tocca! La formula non ha subito cambiamenti di sorta: ecco quindi di nuovo i due 7" in tiratura limitata (1000 copie), raccolti in una custodia di cartoncino spesso. In copertina è stata sbattuta la foto di un fungo atomico; questa volta il colore principale è una sorta di rosso amarena. All'interno della copertina si trova un collage di fotografie dei gruppi, scattate probabilmente durante uno di quei concerti che portano il nome di quest'uscita. Come ho avuto modo di scrivere in più di un'occasione, la scena norvegese si è riscoperta amante del thrash: un thrash vecchio stile, rozzo e diretto, di stampo schiettamente europeo. Nocturnal Breed, Audiopain, Aura Noir ed Infernö ne sono senz'altro i maggiori esponenti. La Duplicate Records ha deciso di tastare nuovamente il polso a questo fenomeno in continua espansione, incoraggiata dal buon successo di culto del primo "Überthrash".
Il primo attacco viene sferrato dai veterani Nocturnal Breed. In "Überthrash I" si erano guadagnati la palma della miglior canzone. Qui ritornano con "Scything Harrow", il cui titolo reca tra parentesi la dicitura "Mother Whore Edit". Si tratta, com'è facile immaginarsi, di un brano ultradiretto ed aggressivo. Il riffing è atonale, la voce devastata e la sezione ritmica arrembante. Il suono è molto pulito e sfacciato, reso al
meglio grazie ad una produzione impeccabile. A metà "Scything Harrow" rallenta, la musica si fa più fangosa e parte un assolo di chitarra tonale. Nel finale, la canzone riprende a picchiare. Il lato B vede gli Audiopain alle prese con "Psalvation". Non smetterò mai di intessere le lodi di questo gruppo, istintivo e divertente come non mai. Il suo black/thrash è cazzuto e coinvolgente; il songwriting è quasi sempre
di buon livello. Ho scritto "quasi" perché, in realtà, "Psalvation" non è la miglior canzone del trio. Rispetto al brano dei Nocturnal Breed, il suono è più cupo. La voce di Sverre è isterica come al solito. I riff di
chitarra sono semplici nonostante l'aspetto "contorto"; il lavoro del basso è notevole ed irrefrenabile. "Psalvation" è una buona traccia ma, sinceramente, da un gruppo come gli Audiopain mi sarei aspettato di più. Veloce è veloce, tirata è tirata... manca solo qual qualcosa che avrebbe potuto renderla speciale.

Il secondo 7" è aperto dagli Aura Noir, i quali hanno vissuto nel 2004 un anno di gloria. Sia l'album "The Merciless" che i loro concerti hanno suscitato ottime reazioni da parte di critica e fan. La canzone "Sulphur
Void" segna l'ultimo sforzo prima di un meritato periodo di riposo. Per tener fede alla loro fama di "band più brutta del mondo", gli Aura Noir si presentano con un mixaggio strano e del tutto spiazzante: sembra che i giri rallentino! In realtà, è tutta una finta. "Sulphur Void" è una traccia grezza e d'impatto belluino, dal suono oscuro e sguaiato. Le vocals sono rabbiose e l'esecuzione è istintiva come non mai. Il trio si produce in una cavalcata distruttiva nel nome del thrash più bestione, lanciandosi in un crescendo di furia che si conclude solo al termine di una serie di battute incazzatissime.

Agli Infernö spetta il compito di chiudere questo secondo capitolo di "Überthrash". Lo fanno nella maniera migliore! "Metal Commando" è un brano folle, sbracato, ignorante e totalmente coinvolgente. La voce è isterica, propensa agli strilli in falsetto. I riff si susseguono come cavalloni, il ritmo "thrasha" da paura! Il ritornello trascina l'ascoltatore, con i suoi cori che rispondono alla voce principale. E' una festa dell'headbanging, ragazzi! Nessun amante del thrash può restarne indifferente. Eh sì, anche questa volta la Duplicate Records colpisce nel segno con un capitolo di "Überthrash". Non voglio sentire detrattori che mi rinfaccino la mancanza di originalità dei gruppi! A questi quattro big del thrash norvegese, di essere originali non gliene frega un cazzo! I musicisti suonano semplicemente la musica che amano e che fa palpitare i loro cuori. In fondo, il metal è anche divertimento! Non ditemi che non vi viene da
scuotere il capoccione all'ascolto di un sano brano thrash... sareste dei bugiardi! Quindi perché avere la puzza sotto il naso? Lasciatevi andare! "Überthrash II" è un altro piccolo monumento al thrash metal istintivo ed appassionato che infiamma le anime dei metallari norvegesi! Sbrigatevi ad ordinare la vostra copia! Mettetela sul giradischi e godetevi lo spettacolo! Non aspettate però troppo: 1000 copie vanno via in fretta! Comprate ora o piangerete in futuro!
