Woe Reaper has brought forth yet another offering of twisted, horrific black metal derived from early (post-SJ) Darkthrone combined with his own influence (his own dementia, if you will). The reason this rules is because it is minimalistic yet so overwhelming in nonsensical concept and execution that it slowly grows on the listener and becomes more than a pretentious 3rd-wave BM release; it becomes a journey into disturbing sounds and odd melodies, transported by cold, poem-like lyrics. Vocal elucidations range from studders to moans to the trademark snarling scream, and everything in between. Guitars are thin but audible; occasional interesting riffs appear and disappear, often slipping by on first listen. A wonderful little release by a growing star in the Norwegian BM scene.
