VIRUS - Carheart LP

2010

The critically acclaimed debut on vinyl, originally released on cd via Jester Records. Virus is the logical continuation of mainmain Czral's '90s avantgarde black metal outfit Ved Buens Ende. Losing the trappings of BM for a more sophisticated avant-rock style, fusing jazz, post-rock and Czral's trademark Voivod-inspired guitars, the bass magic of Plenum and the fluent beats of Einz, Carheart still sounds as fresh and unique as it did when it first came out in 2003. Guest appearances by Kris "Garm" Rygg and Zweizz among others.

Ltd. 500, rough stock cardboard sleeve, incl. insert with lyrics.

"...one of the masters of the dissonant, atonal, disharmonic, weirdo post-Voïvodian riffing made his 2003 return with passion and, admitingly, not without a slight spice of creative insanity"
Avantgarde Metal

"It’s not mindless metal riffing, and adversely, it’s not mindless experimenting. Instead it’s a melting of the two worlds into one horrific landscape that only a few brave souls will be willing to travel across"
Indie Workshop

"Carheart is a progressive metal album in the true sense, and comes from the mind of a truly inventive musician and the hands of skilled players who know precisely what they are about" (83%)
Metal Archives

"This goes highly recommended to anyone who thinks the black metal genre is slightly stale and wants something in a similar vein but with exciting new ideas" (8.5/10)
Metal Review

"In what must certainly have been one of the best releases in 2003, VIRUS manage to play what can be described as post-modernist rock... An album that has a soul and is desperately and frantically trying to express it, “Carheart” is brilliant, amazing and original."
