Field-recordings maestros OLHON are back with a new stunning album. "Underwater passage" is based upon underwater recordings taken in 2006 by Zairo (WHERE), then treated by Massimo Magrini (of BAD SECTOR fame). These recordings were taken using special sensing microphones attached to an abandoned telephone cable running on the sea bottom at -40 m.; they were then processed with particular demodulating treatments, resulting in a complex and rich ambiental monument. Strange clicks, impulses, a load of movements. Definitely far from the usual concept of dark ambient = low-rumbling drones only, "Underwater passage" shimmers with cutting mid/high frequencies bursts. A very challenging listening. Uv-varnished digipack.

As the title says, this is a document of O.G.'s live work in Central Europe, a fascinating document of ambient sound wrapped in a beautiful package made by Trine + Kim Design. Four extended tracks mixed into one 36 minute seamless whole. A rich, dense, lush, organic assemblege of ambient drones and droning ambience. Distant fog horn moans, chimes blowing in the wind, rumbling glitch flecked hum, getting more and more ambient, until scratchy white noise fuzz adds the sound of rain beating on a roof or a distant steam engine sort of thrum to the proceedings, that eventually morph into a sort of bass driven groove, albeit a super minimal and subtly pulsing one, with the sounds of occasional passing trains and other found sounds.

The new material included on this release is no holds barred, total raw mind crushing doom!The new track, "Claw Tower" is a powerhouse of pure doom that will shatter your skull and make you hallucinate in broad daylight. Also included is a "live" version of Unspeakable Truth, a cover of "Stand Up and Fight" by Quartz, and a remake of "Creation Through Death" from their first demo. 62 minutes of mighty DOOM.
